Patriot Towers Acquires Transwave Communications Systems

Combined telecommunications expertise strengthens infrastructure capabilities, expands service offerings, and enhances support for customers across the Northeast.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (June 2, 2026) — Patriot Towers Inc., the Northeast’s leading provider of cell tower construction, modification, and maintenance services, has acquired Transwave Communications Systems, Inc., a Buffalo, New York-based telecommunications and broadband services company. The transaction was finalized on May 1, 2026. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The acquisition significantly expands Patriot Towers’ telecommunications and broadband capabilities while creating a broader turnkey communications infrastructure platform across the Northeastern United States. The combined organizations will offer complementary expertise spanning tower construction, civil site development, structural modifications, secure microwave communications networks, broadband services, technical integration, and wireless infrastructure deployment.

The acquisition also creates operational synergies by expanding tower development and construction capabilities for Transwave customers while accelerating Patriot Towers’ access to microwave communications opportunities and additional wireless markets throughout the Northeast.

Founded in 1993, Transwave Communications Systems specializes in the design and installation of private, secure wireless communication networks, serving cellular carriers, utilities, healthcare organizations, municipalities, and public sector entities. The company’s legacy business is providing subscription-model ISP and broadband services to organizations with intensive bandwidth and connectivity needs across the Northeast.

Patriot Towers, founded and headquartered in Rochester, New York, was spun off from the multi-generational telecommunications business R.J. Schickler Inc. 25 years ago. Patriot Towers provides specialty wireless telecommunications construction, civil construction services, and tower-climbing crews that install new, modify existing, and decommission tower structures.

Patriot Towers has practiced slow, steady, organic growth since its founding in 2001, expanding its footprint to 12 states across the Northeastern United States.

“We are excited to welcome the Transwave team into the Patriot Towers organization,” said Rich Schickler, President of Patriot Towers and the new Chairman of Transwave Communications Systems. “Transwave has built an outstanding reputation in the telecommunications industry, particularly in microwave communications and broadband services. Together, we see significant opportunities to strengthen our capabilities, expand service offerings, and provide stable growth in an otherwise volatile industry.”

Doug Harradine, Vice President of Patriot Towers and the new Vice Chairman of Transwave, added:

“This acquisition creates even more opportunity to better serve the customers of both companies as technology and infrastructure demands continue to expand, especially in the areas of secure wireless infrastructure, broadband connectivity, public safety communications, and next-generation network deployment.”

In 2025, the combined companies employed nearly 70 people. Leadership indicated that both organizations will continue operating with minimal disruption during the integration process over the next six to twelve months. The company also noted there are no plans for staffing reductions and that it intends to aggressively recruit additional field personnel.

Martin Renzoni, former Chairman of Transwave Communications Systems, who will assist with the transition, also emphasized the long-term benefits of the transaction:

“Patriot Towers shares our commitment to technical quality, customer service, and investing in people. This acquisition creates opportunities to expand the services available to our customers while providing additional resources, training, and long-term career growth to our employees.”

Transwave Communications Systems will continue operating under its established brand name for the near term, with the addition of “A Patriot Towers Company” as part of the transition strategy.
